A roofing & carpentry contractor since 1996, Ciaran Kelly established CK Roofing & Carpentry Ltd in 2007 with the intention of specialising in high-quality, renovation, restoration and sustainable solutions for listed, heritage and landmark buildings.

Key to the company’s success is the highly-skilled and dedicated crew of skilled craftsmen who are capable of sustaining local heritage using compatible materials, respecting the environment and history of the buildings they work on.

All the crew are fully familiar with traditional materials compatible with the buildings they work on and have in-depth knowledge of same, developing their craft over time to an expert level. Furthermore, the crew are extremely mindful and respectful of the built heritage sites where they work, taking painstaking care in the carrying out the job at hand.

CK Roofing & Carpentry Built Heritage Projects

I had the pleasure of working with Ciaran and his construction company CK Roofing & Carpentry Ltd. on projects. His attention to detail, project management and professionalism ensured high end quality workmanship on several projects. His attention to health and safety was exemplary. His expert, insightful and flexible approach ensured the best resolution to the dynamic nature of all projects, being at all times sensitive to the client’s requirements and project brief. I fully intend on working with Ciaran again and happily recommend his services to clients both private and professional.

The company has invested heavily in specialised equipment in order to safely work at height, including specialised roof access equipment which provides a working platform to a height of 21 metres.  Extensive roof coverings and hoardings enable the crew to continue working in all weathers. In the interest of preservation and sustainability, we weatherproof every layer of our work.

Many projects of our projects are in public areas,  some in hazardous conditions. Particular emphasis is put on Health & Safety to ensure the safety of our crew, the client, client’s employees and the general public.  Health & Safety Plans are meticulous, unique, and site-specific. The company is proud to stand over its excellent Health & Safety record to date.

Since our first full refurbishment in 2006, it has been company policy to rigorously train in best practice in relation to Built Heritage developing a crew of skilled craftsmen, passionate about renovation and restoration. We are now confident specialists at the top of our game that you can trust with your conservation or restoration project.

“Each project is different, presenting us with an opportunity to learn and grow our expertise in this area. For example, in 2016 we had the privilege to gain a unique insight into the viability of renewing salvaged slates. This involved testing old slates from Ardnacrusha Power Station. Employed by the ESB, and in partnership with Conservation Engineer Dermot Nolan, special testing at the British Research Establishment (BRE)  proved 100-year-old roof slates could withstand tests for modern slates.” Ciaran Kelly, Managing Director
